Miguel de Mexico

This is Miguel de Mexico...a cousin of my earlier created turtle Rufus. He was created especially for Christy of Bumbles Groovy Crochet. He is a darker skinned turtle of acrylic yarn with a red shell, multi colored sarape and a sombrero with over 200 multi colored glass beads, 10 silver beads and a wooden bead. Enjoy!

Beads!!!

OH NO...NOT ANOTHER HOBBY!!! That's what my mom prob thought when I told her I wanted to make bracelets for myself. I was like a fish out of water when I went to the store to pick out the beads etc. Luckily the sales clerk found me a book to help out and after about 2 hours I had chosen enough beads to make myself a few braclets. I came home and was surprised how fast they went together. I'm HOOKED!!! In addition, the beading wire that I purchased will work great for crochet projects too...so that's next...crocheting with beads!!!

Weekend Fun

So this weekend I went to Columbus to visit with my old college roomie that lives in Pittsburgh. Her and her boyfriend were in Ohio for a wedding on Sat. so on Sunday we met up and gave him a tour of our old campus...so why did it have to rain??? Because it's Equine Affaire weekend and it ALWAYS rains or snows! Aargh. However, she informed me that her sister is FINALLY trying to get pregnant!!! Yay Nicki!!! Now perhaps this Christening gown I'm working on will have a home by the time it gets finished!!! This gown is about 4 rows into production and is sitting here staring at me...serious distraction for anything else I want to start. Therefore I'm sitting here on the computer accomplishing absolutely nothing!
I'm in need of some serious motivation. I think I might clean the living room and put all this yarn etc. back into it's respective bin...then perhaps I can focus on something once again. Anyone have any suggestions as to what kind of critter I should make next??? Or should it even be a critter? Someone MOTIVATE me!!!!

Some Recent Ami's

These are some of my recent projects. The apple and turtle can be found in my etsy shop The Awkward Armadillo. If you would like the turtle in a different color or a bunny in the color of your choice feel free to convo me on etsy to have one made just for you! I can also make many other different animals, so if you don't see what you are looking for just ask!!!

Amigurumi Pickle!

So here it is...my very first 100% original ami!!! Meet Penelope the pickle! This little lady was created especially for Pickles the Clown...shown here beside Penelope! It has a pin back so that Pickles can wear Penelope on her skirt for all the kiddies to see. She features her own "clown" hairdo, safety eyes and an embroidered pink mouth. Her eyes are actually even...although I just realized they don't look like it in this photo. In addition I randomly did single crochet in front or back loops to give her a little more "pickle" texture... it isn't really noticeable and doesn't show up at all in the photo. I added the arms even though pickles don't have arms, just because she looks like she's ready to give all the kids a hug! I hope you like her!!!

Catching Up

Well, welcome to my blog. I'm not much of a writer so I've procrastinated creating a blog until now. The time has finally come with the opening of my Etsy store The Awkward Armadillo that I need another outlet to show everyone what I am capable of. This first post (and perhaps a few after this) will be a hodge podge of photos to "catch up" so to speak. I'm also in the process of switching over to my laptop exclusively and many of my photos are still on my desktop so it may take awhile to move everything over. Please bear with me and ENJOY!!! Thanks for looking!

This first photo is of a ladybug ornament I made for an ornament exchange partner. He was so cute I considered making an entire army of them!!!

Another one of my Valentine items was this pair of slippers for a swap partner.

Once I transfer some of my other photos over to this computer I'll post more of my creations! Thanks for looking!!!
